…that’s how long I’ve been back on my special diet.
I chose to get back on this super restrictive diet even though Christmas was upon us.
I chose to be tempted but overcome the desire for cookies and cakes and sugary things.
I chose to eat only vegetables and meats and continue to choose it until I’m healthy again.
I am slowly healing my body from the inside out. Foods are so healing and yet some can be so destructive.
I choose the healing foods now.
My sons and I are all on the Anti-Candida diet & once we “graduate” out of the strict phase one of this diet, we’ll move into a lifelong lifestyle of eating more along the lines of gluten free and dairy free with very minimal sugar. (from fruits and honey and stevia)
I no longer feel like I’m depriving myself. Nor do I feel that way about my sons.
I’m no longer looking at the negative.
I’m not depriving my sons of eating junk food. How ridiculous was it for me to even think that way? Or for the people around me to think that way.
I’m blessing them with health. I’m giving them so much more.
And when you’re on a diet that allows so little, you find new uses for foods and find ways to make really fun and tasty dishes.
Oh… and a nice side benefit to it all… 12 pounds lost in 19 days.
If you have any questions about the Anti-Candida diet, please leave them in the comments section. I’ll be talking more about this topic, eating healthy, gluten free diets … etc.
12 pounds in 19 days? Oh my! How bad were the cravings for sugar & carbs? I am a total carb junkie. I’ve gotten much better at limiting them and eating more whole grains when I do eat them. But boy giving them up scares me!

Awesome Nell! I used to be so strict with our diet, we ate healthy, really healthy..everything homemade and bought organic AND we made things fun like you said…we made pizzas (kids favs.) on organic whole wheat flour tortilla’s (now they have those gluten free around here) and we made veggies fun for the lil ones! Now we are just horrible with it, eating preservative rich foods etc. etc.
I need to get back to being disciplined with that, my children need it now for future health and good habits when they go out on their own.

Congrats!
Not just on the weight loss, but on recognizing that you’re giving your kids and yourself the GIFT of healthy eating. Good for you!

You’re looking great!
I need to nix the sugar. I was doing really well for awhile, but then Christmas hit. And, why do people have to keep shoving cookies in my face?!!!
What are your favorite resources for a person who wants to learn more about the Candida diet? And, how do you curb the sweet tooth cravings?
The sweet tooth issue has been a big one since getting pregnant with Levi. I thought it would dissipate, but oh, no. It’s still there….two years later!

Awesome attitude Nell! You know it’s funny because when I started getting more serious about eating healthy I stopped buying cookies and junk like that altogether.
I thought since my son likes that stuff he’d be upset and there might be a bit of work getting him used to it but he basically just eats whatever is there and loves it. I guess that was just my own excuse for having cookies around to eat!
