So many of my friends are already referring to this time of year being the start of fall. And for where they live, they are probably correct. It’s cool in certain parts of America, ushering in the fall season a bit early. However, I live in North Texas and we’re no where near in the fall season. In fact, I just took the kids to the lake yesterday and swam around the beach. My car read 97 this afternoon, which really meant closer to 100 with the heat index.

Even with the fall season approaching, the weather is still screaming summer, which is something I’m trying to get used to. I want to get out my fall clothing but that is quite laughable. I don’t know if I’ll be able to wear my fall clothes until it’s actually winter here. Hey, I’m not complaining, I quite like the warmer weather. If I never had to see a day below 70 I would be a happy camper.

I still want to take advantage of fall colors and the appearance of fall clothing even if they are still short sleeved and light weight. So while at Wal-Mart food shopping, I strolled through the clothing isle to see what was new for the season. I know, Wal-Mart, do people actually shop for clothing there? I do. Sometimes. If something is cute, I don’t care if its $5.00 at Wal-Mart or $50.00 at a department store. As long as we can afford it, I’ll get it. Though truth be told, I purchase a lot more lower priced items than higher end items these days.

At Wal-Mart I bought four new shirts. Really pretty jewel toned shirts. I can’t wait to show them to you. I’ll pair them with skinny jeans and probably little booties – knee high boots when the weather turns colder. Today I wore this lovely deep purple shirt with gold down the front and a purple lace back. Pairing it with my Forever21 skinny jeans. And slapping beautiful bright colored lipstick on my pout.

As a “curvy girl”, a nice phrase for a plus size woman, it isn’t always easy to find something that flatters the body. I’m quite pleased with this outfit though and feel it gives me more of an hourglass figure than a big girl body. I love summer but, y’all, I really love fall colors, jeans, and boots!

Have you transitioned from summer clothes to fall clothes yet?
