Fashion Friday: Texas Vacation

In less than a week and a half we’ll be in beautiful north Texas looking for a house to buy. We’re looking in Savannah, Providence Village, Little Elm, Frisco, and Plano. Yep, we’re looking all over the place. Until we get down there, we aren’t going to know which city appeals to us the most. We may end up finding our dream home in the first city we go to, and that’s fine, but in case we don’t, we have other cities and homes to look at.

We’re making it a vacation. We’ll be gone 5 days – Monday thru Friday. We’re making the 9 hour trek down there in our van. Our parents are watching the kids and dog while we are gone. And we’ll have a house sitter taking care of the Guinea Pigs and home. It’ll be just Adam and I in Texas and we couldn’t be more excited!

Naturally, I bought clothing especially for the vacation. How could I not? I mean, seriously, how often do I get away? How often do I have fun things going on? Not often, friends, not often. If Lyme isn’t keeping me home bound, I get out with the kids, but my husband and I don’t often have time together alone. We did have an amazing vacation last summer in Branson, Missouri – first time we had gotten away in 12 years. So this is a real treat – two years in a row. Mind you, this “vacation” is really a “buying home vacation” but we’re still calling it a vacation, and will make sure we do fun things while we’re down there.

So onto the fashion already….

I love Forever21. I don’t shop there because I want to look forever 21. I shop there because, frankly, they are one of the only companies who craft cute clothing for plus size mama’s, like myself. So all my finds are current looks you can find at Forever21.

Isn’t this top just to die for? I love the color, the lace detail, the shape. I hope it’s as cute on me as it’s on this model. I also like that I can wear a regular bra with this. I hate wearing strapless bras and most of my dresses and outfits don’t allow for a regular bra.

I went for it – I got a plus-sized-boyfriend-like pair of jeans to go with the top. I hope they look good on me. I usually do skinny jeans and might end up pairing the top with a pair of skinny jeans instead but what the heck, I took a chance, we’ll see how it works out.

Sexy and short. I don’t normally wear short dresses. I don’t know why. My legs are about the only skinny thing on my body, but I just really prefer long dresses on my body. But this one just called out to me. The shape, and colors, and the whole “I can wear a normal bra” thing caught my eye again. Can’t wait to try it on!

I’m not big into white. I have three boys – they stain me up. It’s just a fact, jack. The print in the bottom part of the dress caught my eye. I just had to have it. It was different and eye catching. I hope it works out. Notice anything else I like about this dress? Yep, the whole bra thing again.

Oh hello there, beauty. Love the black, the pattern, the colors – ooooh, its so pretty and eye catching and exotic. I have to wear a strapless bra with it, but that’s okay. I might end up wearing a black shawl with it, since I don’t like no straps, or sleeves, but we’ll see, it might be so hot in Texas that I don’t care.

So now I have the excitement of buying a home, being alone with my husband, AND new clothes. Can’t go wrong with that.

I’m linking up with Musings of a Housewife – check her out, she always has awesome fashion, beauty, and food advice and posts.

New here?

Here’s a picture of me and my kiddo today – to get an idea of what these outfits might end up looking like on my body.

  1. I LOVE Forever 21!! Perfect for “fashion” pieces that you don’t want to break the bank on. I may or may not have ordered some stuff online today from there (shhh don’t tell my husband).
    They have great accessories too!
Love the pic of you and your son, way to rock the maxi!

  2. Great picks from Forever 21! That is such a great store to get some of the trendy pieces without the expense! Love your maxi dress!

  3. I love that second image – the graphic tank paired with jeans. Such a great look and I am a sucker for destroyed denim. Fun choices for summer!!

  4. I love these outfits. Especially the colors/patterns in that one skirt. Gorgeous. I wish you could buy clothes anywhere no matter what your size and the fashion industry would stop messing with size charts.

I have the opposite problem as you (and trust me, I never thought I would have it) I lost a lot of weight due to an autoimmune illness and now have a hard time finding clothes that fit me that are age appropriate. I also don’t want to look like I’m 21. I’m 47. I usually have to spend a fortune to find something that fits, or buy something in the size they have and then have it tailored.

Congrats on your move. My husband and I might also be making a move very soon. Potentially cross country. We will know more in a few weeks. We are leaving it in God’s hands.

Blessings to you and your family.
