“Spending Forever Together”
Tonight was the 2 year anniversary of the first time we both said “I Love You” to each other. We celebrated with a dinner at Olive Garden. After dinner we picked up our sweet little pup, Jack, and went for a drive.
I didn’t know where we were headed at the time. We just often went for drives to talk. I had his gifts in the car and was ready to give them to him. I remember jokingly telling him he was never going to make me his wife at the rate we were going.
He pulled into the neighborhood where he told me he loved me for the first time. I thought that was terribly sweet of him to remember. The drive he wanted to take me on made perfect sense then.
The neighborhood was one of those ritzy ones and it had a beautiful lake on it so we parked near that area. I gave him his gifts. He said he had to get my gift out of the trunk. I didn’t know what I was expecting but it certainly wasn’t what I ended up with that night.
With our dog on my lap he came around my side of the car, opened the door and practically fell to his knee. I still wasn’t sure what was going on. Was this a joke? It was happening to quickly.
Out comes this beautiful sparkly ring that he had picked out all by himself. The ring was stunning and exactly what I would have picked. The he said
“Since this was the place I told you I loved you for the first time, I wanted this to be the place I asked you to spend the rest of your life with me. Will you marry me?”
And of course I said yes.
That night, like the night he shared his feelings of love with me are forever etched in my memory. Tomorrow is our 6 year wedding anniversary & I’m hoping the Lord blesses us with good health and a long life so we have many, many, many more years together.
