Since I can remember I’ve loved drawing but never thought I was good at it. I wasn’t born with a god-given talent to draw, I’ve had to work at it, and a lot of working at it, at that. Years of recent practice, I’ve slowly been improving my skills.

Now mind you, I’m not talking about drawing life-like portraits. I’m talking cute characters and whimsical animals. Nothing fancy. Even so, I’ve had to practice my fingers off to be able to look at a photograph of a duck for example and be able to draw it so it actually resembles a duck.

Where all this is taking me I do not know. Will I use these skills for a career? I just can’t say. I don’t have any big plans. And I do still love to embroider and crochet. Mostly, I just love making gifts, and little characters that live in my art drawers. I believe God made us to enjoy life and it’s my pleasure to do what God made us to do!

Tonight, I drew and then colored in a duck and butterfly. Last night I drew a guinea pig nighttime scene with firefly’s and earlier in the day I practiced drawing guinea pigs. I’m having so much fun. I hope these little whimsical scenes make you smile.
